I'm currently a bit busy with adapting to my newly bought lap - however, i'd like to share a first impression regarding music:
my previous pc wasnt that loud - but the fan noise was noticable. I always knew that the noise floor was important - but i didnt expect it to be that significant. Since this lap is almost completely silent, the only thing left in my room now is ambient noise - so, almost nothing. I instantly noticed that my music sounded different. I wasnt that impressed anymore with mediocre mastered albums and stuff with low dynamics. On the other hand, highly dynamic material like i.e. redshift now sounds even more impressive.
The downside is, that now i am noticing what all the fuss regarding room dynamics is all about - even though i have cloth at the ceiling and some walls, there isnt enough damping. Meh..... i wonder if i will ever be satisfied ;)
